Representing Lancaster University and Design research at UK-Peru Workshop

on the relationship between Food, Nutrition and Health

Emmanuel represented Lancaster University and the Arts and Humanities research area in the cross-disciplinary and cross-council (MRC, AHRC, BBSRC, ESRC) research area of food, nutrition, and health issues.

As part of the research activities of the Newton-Paulet Fund, promoted by the National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (Concytec) and the Embassy of the Government of the United Kingdom in Peru, Peruvian and British experts formed research groups to develop projects linked to food, nutrition, and health issues.

The objective of the event was to promote the formation and strengthening of collaboration between Peruvian and British scientists, as well as to determine and resolve the main challenges in food, nutrition and health research.

The relationship between food, nutrition and health is a current and important issue at a global level and represents a multidisciplinary challenge for public health with an impact on the economy. 

The event will be attended by 13 British researchers and 14 Peruvian researchers. All of them were selected from the call launched months ago by the Concytec and the MRC.

The Newton-Paulet Fund has an amount for the call to be anounced in June has commited £3.6 million. The aim is for Peruvian and British scientists and researchers to work together to respond to the challenges of national and global development, through collaboration in science and innovation.
