As Design Manager for Leapfrog I build relationships with partners to identify opportunities for innovative co-design projects that aim to transform their consultation processes. I work closely with our partners at the Glasgow School of Art and undertake regular working trips to the Highlands.

Before joining ImaginationLancaster I was with Creative Lancashire for over 5 years, Lancashire’s business led support service for creative businesses. During this we delivered Blaze an ambitious 3 year youth led Cultural Olympiad project where young people took the lead in decision making. Seeing the impact this had on their confidence and skills I realised that developing innovative user led approaches to the design of projects or services was where were my interests lay.

In 2012 I became Design Manager for the PROUD project at ImaginationLancaster. The tools and approaches we developed through PROUD to make public consultations more effective and creative transformed the council’s approach to consultation and engagement. This became the starting point for the development of Leapfrog.

Playing with the Proud Identity

As the project continues, our design and branding agency, under the direction of the Capital D, our lead partners have instructed us to take the basic form of the PROUD logo and play with it. This is quite refreshing and also a neat way of sidestepping the endless quest for perfection from the 15 or so designers that are part of the Proud project team across the NW of Europe. Here are some of the different versions so far but I suspect time at...Read full article

Calling All Masters Of Co-Design a 'reverse masterclass' in Eindhoven

Facilitating masterclasses in co-design has always provided us with a bit of a headache. The notion of a master (or more interesting mistress) in co-design sets up a hierarchy just when we want to break them down. This was especially true when we were invited to run a masterclass for more experienced co-designers. Our response was the event “Calling All Co-Design Masters”. This event was all about sharing best and worst practice. In particular we...Read full article

PROUD partners in Lancaster and the design of meetings

One of the joys of academia is that you get to collaborate with great people that you really like. This is certianly the case with the PROUD project. The flip side of this is that you offten meet up with these great people in meetings, endless meetings. For big EU funded projects like PROUD these can take over 2 days and after that much time with 15 people or so sat around a table its pretty easy to loose the will to live. ...Read full article
