Laura joined Imagination in April 2012 as a Graphic Designer for the New IDEAS project, which aims to create innovative knowledge exchange toolkits, which can be used independently by local, academic, creative industries and stakeholders.

Laura’s creative background includes a degree in Industrial Design and a Masters in Multidisciplinary Design Innovation, both from Northumbria University.  She also has varied commercial experience, including product design for a leading baby product brand, concept design for Philips Innovation and has built and marketed the brand for a new brewery.  Laura’s greatest achievement is winning an RSA Design Directions award for sustainable future concepts for two well-known brands in personal care and decorating.

Particular interests for Laura include; user centered research and design, creative problem solving, branding, marketing and the role of design in business.

One of the joys of academia is that you get to collaborate with great people that you really like. This is certianly the case with the PROUD project. The flip side of this is that you offten meet up with these great people in meetings, endless meetings. For big EU funded projects like PROUD these can take over 2 days and after that much time with 15 people or so sat around a table its pretty easy to loose the will to live. ...Read full article
