Design for Change within service organisations, Design for Public Services, Service Innovation, Service Design and the Digital Economy, Service Design methods and Visualisation tools

Daniela's research focuses on Service Design, which was also her PhD topic. She has investigated services as complex social systems, proposing holistic and participatory approaches to Service Design. In her most recent work she focuses on the applications and implications of "Personalisation" and "Participation" in the design and supply of services; in doing so she is interested in working with and within service organisations to explore resistance to and capacity for change, with a particular focus on the education and health sectors. She is interested in the emergence of new service models, and in the practice and theory of service innovation.

Daniela was a researcher for the SDI Agency at the INDACO Department of Politecnico di Milano until April 2007. During this time, she participated in several national and European research projects, mainly dealing with the role of design in the innovation and development of the Italian industrial system.

Partnership for Education and Research about Responsible Living

Partnership for Education and Research about Responsible Living

  • Identify and analyse framework projects aiming at enhancing social innovation and sustainability at a local scale
  • Share experiences and identify common characteristics and clusters
  • develop enabling kits to stimulate and facilitate co-design processes within these frameworks
College

Design for a culture of change in secondary schools

  • Develop long-term strategic thinking within schools
  • Enable students and staff to find new ways to support Personal Development
Design for Flexibility and Change within health service providers

Design in Practice: Flexibility and change for healthcare service providers

  • Explore how people adapt to and drive change in Primary Care Trusts
  • Explore how built and technical infrastructure supports or inhibits innovation and adaptation processes
  • Develop design recommendations to improve the way the life cycle of infrastructure is designed, conceived and managed
IMDE

IMDE: Research Cluster on Innovative Media for a Digital Economy

In this research cluster, we investigate digital economy practices that are emerging around the capabilities of social, mobile and pervasive technologies. We explore how we can develop new services, new forms of exchange and interaction that benefit the whole of the UK economy.
