Roger is a designer and researcher with a range of commercial and academic experience. His specialisations include user experience design, user interface design and software architecture. Roger has industrial experience with a number of major digital advertising agencies in both technical and creative roles.

Roger is currently undertaking a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction and Design, here at Lancaster University. His research interests include Information Visualisation, Personal Information Management and Individual work practices. His practical research experience centres around Interactive TV and handheld devices.

Current research activities

Barriers to Interactive Television

BITe is a HEIF funded project undertaking a second phase of ethnographic research into Interactive Television (iTV) usage in the UK. The study involved multiple visits to 30 families in the Greater London area to understand their use of iTV and to evaluate an experimental prototype remote control device.

UITS User-Led Interactive TV services

UITS (User-led Interactive TV Services), funded by HEIF (Higher Education Funding Council for England), this project undertook ethnographic research and prototype development of innovative iTV services lead buy consumer demand rather than technical convenience.
