Beyond the Castle Seeks Volunteers

Volunteer information and development session on Weds 25th July

Date Published: 25 July 2012

The Beyond the Castle project wants to make a quality public space from
the area around Lancaster’s historic castle, down the hill, over the meadows
to the quayside, and the first step invites everyone to imagine and design
the possibilities.

Everyone can participate in Beyond the Castle, and right now we’re looking
for volunteers who can work with us to help facilitate and deliver a series of
fun events over the summer and autumn.

These events will encourage people of all ages to share their half-formed
thoughts, considered plans and big ideas for the future of the space.
This isn’t consultation, it’s co-design. We’ll be working with lots of people
and their great ideas, asking them to develop the best ones, and designing
Beyond the Castle together.

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone wishing to learn valuable skills
in creative facilitation. The initial training session will equip volunteers to:

1. Understand the Beyond the Castle programme of activities and events

2. Appreciate the value and benefits of co-design

3. Be able to co-facilitate specific events within the programme

4. Feel confident enough to go out there and do it

The development session will take place from 1-4pm on Weds 25th July at The Storey on Meeting House Lane, Lancaster.

Due to popular demand we will repeat the development session in the evening on the same day from 6.30 – 8.30pm. Please state in your email which session you wish to attend.

To register for one of the sessions please email Gemma Coupe: g.coupe1@lancaster.ac.uk
or contact 01524 510 893 or 07980 308 069.

Beyond the Castle was initiated by Lancaster City Council and
Lancashire County Council, and is supported by a co-design challenge
led by Lancaster University through PROUD, an EU INTERREG program.
