Funding Accelerator: Take Up Space Success

Date Published: 14 November 2018

One of our project teams – Jenna Gardner Head of Design at Blackburn College with Rebecca Johnson Arts and Heritage Manager at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery – successfully bid for funding to look at developing derilct space next to the museum into an open, multi-purpose, community area.

The money received from the Arts Council will allow them to develop, through co-design, community-led ideas for the space which will be presented at the Festival of Making in June 2019. From there it is planned that the display will be moved around various community spaces in Blackburn with Darwen to allow residents to see and vote for the ideas they feel will be best for the area.

This project has also been shortlisted for a £4.2 million award through the Arts Council.
