design for place-based policy, designing future policies for emerging technologies, strategic design, design and governance, knowledge curation
I am a post-disciplinary researcher and educator whose research and practice centres around place, our notions of what this means in our current and future worlds, and how we engage with and make place through art, design and technologies. In my research I use creative methods including, walking, speculative design and writing and photography
I have a background in art history, curatorship, digital innovation and more recently in the areas of design public policy, and I am interested in understanding how emerging technologies and the data-driven soceity will impact upon arts, design and culture.
I hold a PhD (EPSRC scholarship) in Digital Innovation (Data Science and Design) from ImaginationLancaster/School of Computing and Communications; MRes in Digital Innovation (ImaginationLancaster/School of Computing and Communications); MA in Museology (Manchester University) and BA (hons) Fine Art (Lancaster University).
