The 3rd workshop brought an new dimension to the young participants at Full of Noises. Building on the foundations laid in previous sessions, this focused on hands-on experimentation and active engagement with sound, light, and space.
Lizzie Clough introduced to a variety of experimental tools designed to spark curiosity and exploration. It began with participants gathering around rectangular tables to familiarise themselves with materials and engage in discussion. The emphasis was on open-ended exploration and dialogue, setting the stage for a more participatory format as the session.
Participants were encouraged to experiment with props, sound-based tools like coil, collaboration in pairs and circulating the space. This exploratory format invited to communicate and interact dynamically, using various spatial zones within the workshop. The indoor stage became an integral part of the experience, providing a platform for a captivating lighting that captured everyone’s attention.
Throughout the workshop, our young participants engaged with the activities in diverse ways. Some intently on practical tasks and interactive experiments, while others a more relaxed, playful approach like games and informal conversations. This variety allowed each participant to their own rhythm within the session, reflecting the respect for individual participation stylesed within the group.
Spatial dynamics played a crucial role in this workshop. Workbenches served as focal for guidance and, transitional spaces facilitated movement and material experimentation. The indoor stage became the centerpiece for shared experiences, emphasising the active role space in shaping participatory environments.
This session highlighted participatory activities can transform spaces into environments. Through engagement with experimental materials, peer-to-peer, creative, participants collectively shaped both the atmosphere and functionality of the artefact. The workshop continued to foster social interaction, shared engagement, and transformation within a space.
As the series progresses, insights and experiences gained from Workshop 3 will continue to inform and inspire the young participants, reinforcing project’s mission to empower youth in their local environments through creativity and collaboration.
