Dr Vanessa Longden

Imagination Co-ordinator and LICA Research Administrator

As Imagination Coordinator, Vanessa facilitates the management and organisation of ImaginationLancaster, a nationally and internationally excellent research group, and the wider research culture of LICA.

Supporting the Professoriate, including governance, space, finance, resources, and logistics, Vanessa acts as the central point of contact for ImaginationLancaster and provides Executive Support to Professor Lady Rachel Cooper OBE.

Vanessa also manages access to the ‘Beyond Imagination Life Survey Dataset’, a £13.2m project funded by Research England and Lancaster University. The project captures an in-depth picture of how people live and work in two northern local authority districts, the data will help shape the future of the area and create a healthier, more prosperous and sustainable world.

Before joining Imagination, Vanessa obtained her PhD in Visual Arts and Culture from Durham University where she specialised in twentieth-century photography, spatial theory, and the body.
