The Design PhD Poster Exhibition

The poster exhibition allows delegates, including more junior PhD students and Masters students contemplating a PhD, to present their areas of research interest, discuss their ideas with academics, researchers and representatives from the private sector, and network with other Design PhD researchers. The exhibition has proven to be an excellent forum for meeting people with similar research interests.

Invitation to Submit – Submissions now closed

PhD and Masters students were invited to submit an A2 poster (portrait format) representing the key elements of their research in relation to the theme: Better by Design: Environment, Society & Self.  The posters included will be a visually compelling, clear and well-designed graphic representation of the PhD research – and will include:

  • the title (or working title).
  • the key research questions or areas of focus.
  • an indication of the research process/methods being used, or to be used.
  • an indication of the expected outcomes.
  • small portrait photo of the author (ca. 45mmx35mm) together with name, department, university, and e-mail address in the area at the bottom right hand corner of the poster (H70mm x W50mm).

Posters for consideration were sent in pdf format to imagination@lancaster.ac.uk by the 13th April 2015, and selection was based on clarity of ideas, relevance to the conference theme and visual presentation.  Notification of poster acceptance was made by the 1st May 2015.

Authors of posters accepted for inclusion in the Conference Poster Exhibition will be asked to mail a high quality A2 portrait print of the poster (rolled in a Tube container, not folded) to the Conference Coordinator which must arrive no later than Monday 22nd June 2015 (posters arriving after that date may not be included in the exhibition).  They will also be asked to email a pdf of the finished poster so that the poster may be displayed electronically.
