Design students progress low carbon solutions in China

Design students from Lancaster University are progressing low carbon solutions for a brighter future in Guangzhou, China. Dr Stephen Clune recently facilitated workshops for Masters of Science students in International Innovation to progress research projects that assist UK companies to develop collaborative R&D partnerships with Chinese Organisations.

Six design students have been living in Guangzhou for the past two months, working on a range of projects: from developing stand alone plug and play solar panels for remote Africa bbox, to electric cars farr UK, to smart home interfaces that assist in reducing electricity consumption demopad. Students are hosted by a partner organisation in China. Students are prepared for the stay in China via intensive language courses completed prior to leaving. The programme is supported by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), providing students with a bursary for the China stay.
