For 30 years my work has been focused on disrupting hierarchies and helping the voices for the seldom heard and structurally disadvantaged play a stronger role in public and private debates and decision-making. On the surface this could appear to be a rather serious worthy aspiration. There are serious injustices to be addressed and challenges to meet but it is through lightness, play and communal excitement that helps progress these challenges most effectively.
I see this passion and commitment to joyful exploration in the work of the (dis)Ability Design Studio at The Beckman Institute and I was thrilled to be invited to become an associate, I’m fizzing with excitement at the collaborative possibilities and the inspirational work I see being undertaken there.
