Earlier this year, I was selected be part of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education’s (QAA) Advisory Group for their Art & Design Subject Benchmark Statement (SBS).
As part of this prestigious group of academics, students and industry professionals, we are responsible for updating the current SBS to ensure that art and design education in the UK continues to be of outstanding quality for our students. This is an exciting prospect, not least because all universities teaching art and design in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be looking at these subject benchmark statements when designing and delivering curricula.
Because of my passion for equality/equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), I also have been involved in writing the EDI cross-cutting theme for the SBS. This has been an enriching and rewarding experience, particularly because I am working with fantastic art and design colleagues who share this same enthusiasm.
