Digital North, University of Sheffield – 19 September 2013

N8 'New Thinking from the North' network holds its second workshop in Sheffield

Date Published: 19 September 2013

The Sheffield workshop focussed on the digital and the aim of this workshop was to explore the rich and varied contexts within which arts and humanities subjects can make meaningful collaborations with the digital.

The digital and creative industries have been a focus for economic development across the North. The digital is also a means by which ideas of culture, identity, past, presents, futures and politics are being developed and shared. Opening with interventions from key recent N8-hosted research projects, policy makers and practitioners, the workshop will frame the discussion by asking: What do we know about the role of the digital in economic and cultural development? How is the digital being used to craft ideas of culture, identity and community? How might the economic and cultural uses of digital relate in developing a sustainable vision for the North?
