The future Mundane project merged Design Fiction and Breaching Experiments to create a novel methodology for apprehending acceptability and adoption challenges early in the design life cycle. The methodological merger situated ‘proximate futures’ , relating to the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence, in the familiar settings ofa living room housed in a caravan using a ‘world building’ approach to surface the taken for granted background expectancies that impact acceptability and adoption of these technologies in everyday life.
