Halcrow and Lancaster University invite policy makers to explore new and innovative ways of embedding sustainability in policy and regulation for Civil Engineering. Embedding new sustainability thinking into day-to-day activities of Civil Engineering can result in substantial social, economic and environmental benefits for all stakeholders, but currently civil engineers are not sufficiently engaged in promoting and implementing sustainability thinking across the full range of their activities. A number of structural constraints have to be overcome that prevent civil engineers from delivering sustainable solutions as an Integral part of everything they do.
