What is a bid writing workshop?
Our overall aim is to share and discuss ideas for collaborative research and engagement projects that will have a positive impact on people’s health and wealth.
These workshop events are the first stage and allow people from local government, third sector organisations, the NHS, academics, and other interested parties to get together and develop new ways to collaborate together.
What can I expect when attending a bid writing workshop?
These workshops include time to discuss ideas as a whole group and then split into smaller groups if required to discuss relevant project ideas. There may also be sections devoted to an area of common interest, for example evaluation. An example of a workshop agenda is below.

What happens after a bid writing workshop?
If you have formed a team looking to work together to get funding for a project you will liaise with the design manager Sharon Jackson, she will be able to help advise on the additional resources available to assist in developing the bids further. She will also ask for a completed, straightforward one page description of the proposal using a standard proforma to help us understand who is working on what projects.
What kind of proposals are expected?
We are initially looking at proposals to improve health and wealth for the population in the Blackburn and Darwen area, however, we are always open to ideas which will provide a tangible real-world benefit as well as academic research outputs.
We welcome a range of bid proposals from large-scale funding to smaller bids which have scope to grow in the future.
How much time will I be expected to invest?
There will be a time investment required, however we are here to support and advise you throughout the whole process to ensure that everything runs smoothly and there are few, if any, problems. This is a great opportunity to become part of a collaboration between a diverse range of stakeholders and to create something which will bring funding and support for your community.
What are the benefits of these workshops?
These workshops are intended to bring together a wide range of stakeholders to create benefits for the local and wider community. Our intention is to create circumstances which enable you to follow through on ideas which you may have conceived by giving you the support and advice needed to take the next step towards bringing them into reality.
Collaboration is key, and by developing new connections and ways of working together we hope to facilitate the creation of new and exciting projects which otherwise may never have been conceived.
