Senior Research Associate

Evaluation, Technology, Education, AI, Serious Games, Sustainability, IoT, Research through Design

Violet is a Senior Research Associate within the UKRI-funded Design Research Works fellowship, where she is developing a scalable generative AI education tool for primary schools, exploring the possibilities of a GenAI curriculum underpinned by constructionist pedagogy. Using Research through Design as a guiding methodology, she aims to create innovative, hands-on learning experiences that empower young learners to engage meaningfully with AI. Alongside this, Violet conducts research in Creative Evaluation, working with colleagues at Lancaster University to develop participatory and design-based approaches that help organisations, particularly in the third sector, capture intangible and nuanced outcomes often overlooked by traditional evaluation methods. As a founding member of the Lancaster Evaluation Group (LEG), she contributes to shaping evaluative practice through interdisciplinary collaboration. She also has a background in researching the repairability of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, using Research through Design, Participatory Design, and Speculative Design to engage the public in conversations about repair rights, including the development of Serious Games to explore these complex issues.
