Description
Due to our rich experience in funded interdisciplinary research projects, we have been awarded two full PhD scholarships by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) as part of their Doctoral Landscape Award. The PhD is expected to draw from the wide variety of creative research approaches employed within Imagination Lancaster and the Lancaster Institute of the Contemporary Arts (LICA) – either theoretical or practice based. The allocation of these studentships means PhD topics must also relate to the EPSRC remit which covers engineering and the physical sciences.
Our extensive experience in such PhD supervision will help you develop the skill necessary to become a successful researcher able to work across a multitude of disciplines.
In terms of potential research areas, a futures focus on the following areas are of particular interest, but we are open to other innovative topics that relate to the wider EPSRC remit particularly if they are supported by an industrial partner. We encourage you to review our list of [potential supervisors] who may also suggest other topics relevant to the call.
